TPACK model
Integrating TPACK model in a primary lesson planning.
Lesson No.2
Teacher Name: Sonam cheki
Subject: Mathematics
Topic: Basic 2-D shapes
Class: II
Time: 45 minutes
Teaching learning materials: Images, videos and models.
ICT model: TPACK
Previous Knowledge: Students are already familiar with the shapes that are around them and are introduced to a few basic shapes in earlier classes.
Lesson objectives:
At the end of the lesson, student will be able to:
-identify all basic 2-D shapes correctly after the lesson.
- draw basic 2-D shapes precisely after the activity in the class.
- state the importance of 2-D shapes in our day to day life after the activity.
Lesson Introduction
I will gain student’s attention by clapping hands three times. I will let students look around themselves and identify all the things around them. I will provide an opportunity for the students to share their ideas and write it on the board. I will explain that everything around us has its own shape. After that, I will introduce them to the topic that I am going to teach, which is Basic 2-D shapes.
Lesson Development
To let learners get familiar with the basic 2-D shapes, I will let students watch a video on introduction to basic 2-D shapes from youtube. I will show them a video which even has real life examples for those shapes.
After the video, I will explain and supplement a little bit on the video that I have presented in the class. After the explanation, I will provide them opportunity to do group activity.
Activity 1.
For this activity, I will let students draw basic 2-D shapes using paint as well as in their notebook. For this activity, I will give 10 minutes to complete the task and will provide students with a gallery walk where they will go and see others work too.
Activity 2
In this activity, I will group students in 5 groups with 4-5 members in it. I will randomly give basic 2-D shapes model to them where I will let them explore the importance of that particular shape in our day to day life and uses too. I will give them 4 minutes to discuss and explore for this activity.
Follow up activity
I will provide students an opportunity to share their findings and ideas on activity 2 to the class. I will supplement and explain further if needed while they share their points.
Lesson closure
To end the lesson, I will have two to three students to share their takeaway and learning from this lesson to the class. I will add points if they miss it and will end the lesson.
